his competition:
Beyonce,Justin Bieber, Adele and Drake
Also nominated for best country album. It'll probably go to Beyonce, but Sturgill is easily my favorite of the year. Absolutely hilarious when you look at the difference in credits for his album compared to the other nominations. I feel like Bowie should've been nominated. Drake is an absolute joke of a nomination.
Pretty much a lot of garbage per usual, but a few people I'm glad to see on the overall list like Anderson Paak, David Bowie, Chance the Rapper, Radiohead and a handful of others.

I read the Grammy nomination lists. I thought it was an April fools joke. Drake is nominated for 8 this year.

Drake is absolute fricking garbage. Bland, generic shite

He has a -10,000% chance of winning. Would love to hear an acceptance speech by him shitting on the industry tho

Arcade Fire pulled it off one year, as did Beck. I think it's possible with him being so different from the other nominees. They might end up splitting votes and he gets it.

Good for Sturgill.
I would also nominate Margo Price, Midwest Farmer's Daughter, in the country album category. She and Sturgill have played together some.

Sturgill winning this would be the greatest thing ever.

He had an interview with the NYT after and he was asked how he reacted and he said "I went and made pancakes for breakfast for my son."
Love how little the dude cares. He was pissed because now he has to possibly tour more. And he also mentioned likely not making the ceremony anyway because his wife is due right around that time.

As usual, the Best Regional Roots Music Album was a boon for Louisiana artists, with Barry Jean Ancelet & Sam Broussard picking up a nomination for Broken Promised Land

Her album is great, but Sturgills is on a different level to me.
