Blind Melon - New Life

This was one of the most positive songs that Shannon wrote with Blind Melon. He's basically singing about hoping that having a daughter would help him kick his habits and clean up. Unfortunately, he died in New Orleans before Nico turned 1 year old.

quote:

Suddenly everyting is fainting
Falling from a broken ladder's rung
There's a jolt exhilarating from the phone I'm holding
I hear the words of what I'll become
How eager the hands that reach for love

'Cause now there's a new life to behold
And its the biggest part of my life to unfold 'Cause now she's telling me she'll have my baby And a faithful father I am to be
When I'm looking into the eyes of our own baby Will it bring new life into me?

Deep inside must defy arrangement
I've been a stumblin' from the startin' blocks 'til now
And I'll always try to justify the way I've been behaving
Should I teach one not to know how?
How to live in a world we live in now

'Cause there's a beautiful life to behold
And its the biggest part of my life to unfold
'Cause now she's telling me she'll have my baby
And a father figure I am to be
When I'm looking into the eyes of our own baby Will it bring new life into me?

Oh please
Oh please
Oh please
Bring new life
Bring new life
Bring new life into me

And here is a recent picture of Nico in the studio with Brad recording the new Abandon Jalopy album:

FDNY Emerald Society Pipes & Drums - Amazing Grace

At the annual firefighter convention in Indianapolis a few weeks ago, they had a 9/11 memorial stair climb in Lucas Oil Stadium...... they played this before the stair climb.

Put your shite in perspective REAL quick.

Praise to the Lord (101 Best Loved Hymns version) - not a tear jerker but this version is so awe inspiring it gives me chill bumps. It's a symphony version with a huge choir that must be what heaven is like.

It's quite possibly the most awe inspiring song and piece of music I've ever heard

Edit: finally found this version of the song on YouTube under "Praise to the Lord The Almighty - London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir"

All of Me - Matt Hammitt
He wrote this song in the hospital while his newborn son was fighting for his life. Someone sent me that song while my newborn was in the hospital with very slim chances of surviving.

He beat the odds and is doing amazing now.

Barbed Wire Halo - Aaron Watson
You could literally change about three words in that song and I'd swear it was written about my Grandpaw.

Props to TNbhoy for turning me on to this one. So mournful, so moving.

I even set my tribute to the loss against bama (let no one say I don't honor my bets) to this tune
