ummm. that was copied from the site I linked in a later post. "WE" refers to the people who wrote the article.

I caught that also. I assumed you had Mr. Hat on your hand or somehting.

As another poster said, this is one of those songs that is oddly cross cultural, like "The Gambler".

BUMP.

I am watching the Classic Album series on Netflix now. The one on Phil Colllins' "Face Value" just had him say he made up the lyrics to the song on the spot. They meant nothing in particular. He had these chords he was playing on the piano and put words to it. That's all. No more no less. Anyone stating otherwise has no clue what they are talking about.

Not a myth: Collins has said in interviews before that he didn't originally have nor did he want to have the famous drum break. I believe it was an engineer recording the song that convinced him to put it in.
