I have a poster from their "Too Loud For Texas Tour"
They got kicked out of a venue in Texas for being too loud

I like their studio sound but saw them at bottletree and I could barely make out a few words from each song, which is a bummer because the songs are good. Maybe I'm old but I think they would be much better if they didn't try to be the loudest band ever.

Their al.com review from cask and drum basically said the same thing.

fully aware... did you hear of the chelsea's show with austin lucas showing up with the small amp on stage in the middle of their set and covering their amps with burlap baffles?

In The Live Music Capital of the World, a venue has to get a permit to play outdoor live music. not kidding. Its a running joke in this town.

Anybody else there today? Can't wait for tomorrow. We'll be there from the start for Lee Bains and Sturgill

Went today. Lord Huron was enjoyable. First Aid Kit was entertaining, with them covering War Pigs and America (S&G.)

Liked Band of Horses. Cage the Elephant stole the show. I don't really know much of there material, but they rocked hard. GREAT performance.

Modest Mouse was alright.

Yeah, I had high hopes for Modest Mouse. Always heard they did good live shows, but it was meh.

Big Gigantic was awesome. In retrospect I wish I would have stayed for their whole show, but I really wanted to catch MM and I couldn't deal with how cramped that stage area was.

What'd you think about yesterday, Bowl?

Primus fricking rocked, per usual. So did Sturgil Simpson.

funny, have always heard they were terrible live and they lived up to that at hangout fest last year.

ETA: that downvote came from LucasP, I just know it. I see you bro!

Really enjoyed the weekend. There were definitely some things that could've been better that I expect to be fixed next year. Hope everyone who came from out of town had a great time in Birmingham, whether it was your first time hanging out here or you've been here before. Look forward to seeing you all next year.

Wish Lee Bains would have played longer, but it was blazing hot. Seen them 3 times at Bottletree and was looking forward to them as much as anybody.

Sturgill was the highlight of my weekend. If he had played "You Can Have the Crown" it would have been perfect.

Manchester Orchestra was great. Never listened to them before but they're a favorite of my gf and sister so we got up close and had a blast.

Primus was amazing. Very entertaining show and great music.

Kenny Loften, was fun. I'm a Hoover alum so I thought it was cool he was too. He's young so I hope he improved his vocabulary beyond "frick", but he's talented.

Wish I could have seen more of Tyler, The Creator. Great energy but not really my gf's thing and by that point in the day neither of us were feeling how packed and how hot it was in The Shed.

Avett Brothers put on a great show per usual. They always sound perfect. Wish they wouldn't have played so late because I wanted to see the whole show but we were so tired we left 30 minutes early.

would hope to see the fest happen a little earlier in the year when it's not 10000 degrees outside. that is a killer lineup though.

The heat did suck but everybody seemed to have a really good time anyway. The organizers said before yesterday was over that they're for sure coming back next year.

July in Alabama is always going to be brutal but they had the misfortune of picking a weekend that set records back from the 80's. It also rained around the time gates opened both days just enough to make it humid as hell.

The heat wasn't near as bad as I expected on Sunday. It was cloudy most of the day which helped. For a first time festival, it was done really well. Plenty of good beer and food. Plenty of places to take a leak. Free water stations. I had a great time Sunday.

Sturgill put on a great show. Avett Brothers ended the night with a bang as well. Primus was a lot of fun. Really enjoyed them. I thought Judah & the Lion, St Paul & the Broken Bones, and Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear all played good sets. I wish Lee Baines and the Glory Fires would have played longer too but I don't blame them for how hot it got during their set.

I was really impressed with the festival. Heat wasn't too bad and the Iron Passes were definitely worth the extra money. My favorites from the weekend have to be Band of Horses, Sutrgill, and Lord Huron.

I know some of the guys in Lee Bains. They wanted to play longer but got cut off.
