No. They are a great band. Listen Like Thieves is a great album and Kick had more hits than I thought possible.

Definitely not. I was listening to shaboo shabah (sp) the other day. fricking great band. I forget sometimes what a hell of a singer hutchence was

Don't Change
The Swing and Listen Like Thieves were great albums. Kick was too but became a little played out. The rest were definitely listenable.

response: I saw them three times in the 80's/early 90's. They were better than just an 80's pop band. TIGHT musically, driving rock beats. Great under-rated band, at least until Michael Hutchence died.

They are two totally different bands to me. The early vs. the late. Hate the late. If I liked the songs you listed, I would list them as guilty pleasures. They are cheesy as all hell.

Early definitely the best, and no, I'm not calling them a sellout just cause they got bigger later (a la so-called Green Day "fans"!
) I wore the grooves off the album and the sound off the tapes in my car of the "Shabooh Shoobah" and "The Swing" back in the mid-80's.
"Don't Change", "Original Sin", "The One Thing", "I Send a Message". Great stuff.

I was in that camp, too, but revisited their later work recently.
Full Moon, Dirty Hearts is better than I originally thought when it came out... not too bad. Not as good as the old stuff, but isn't as awful as I remember it.

I have been listening to them for the last 40 minutes and then I see this. WOW!
No, they are awesome. Michael was terrific. They had a wonderful sound that was beyond Wang Chung or Duran Duran. They were great.
