I'm definitely not an experienced videographer but I would have them set up and perform the song in 3-4 different locations so you can fade in to different scenes. 7 minutes in the same scene is pretty tough.
Great job with the lighting though

Completely understand what you're saying but check out an NPR tiny desk concert. It was supposed to resemble that.

Really liked the song.
The video looks like it was what you were going for... I personally would've used a larger space, but with them staying close like that and keeping the low lighting. And I would've left the computer and sound equipment out of the shooting space.
Only thing I didn't like about the song was the overuse of the cymbal at the end of the solo. It didn't sound right to me.

We will be shooting another one soon. Thanks for all the responses and suggestions. They will be taken into consideration for the next one!

I like it but in some parts their harmonies are not good. It's almost like she's singing too high sometimes. BUT, he sounds good by himself, and she sounds good by herself. I guess they just need a good producer to help them fix it.
Good job on your video!

For those of you who like it I'll keep y'all updated. I'll try to get a video of Morgan (the girl) singing Look at Miss Ohio. I swear it should be her song.

Brother and sister singing and the drummer are all from Lake Charles originally. They have a house/studio off magazine in new Orleans now where this was shot and recorded. They play a lot here and probably once a month hit the road and usually stop in baton rouge. The band on their Facebook is Sons of Bills, their personal friends, not them. Congrats to those guys though. Hopefully it's their break through
They just started playing with the group in the video within the last couple of months. They added the steel and got a new guitarist within the last month I'd say.

It's good lighting in teh video but Tell us the truth, you got lucky on the lighting didnt' you?
Pretty soon it will be harder to emulate when incandescent becomes obsolete.

That's the natural lighting in his bedroom. In no way am I claiming to be an experienced videographer.

i'll give you a rundown of what i see as i see it:
video:
-you need to change your titles in the beginning to where they can be seen
-the chicks pretty hot
-dressing up like civil war soldiers is fun but when you're at the museum and you buy the black and white picture, but it's pastiche here
-instead of putting in shots of random still stuff to break up your band shots, why not film something happening and graft that in there?
-lighting needs work too, not sure what to tell you exactly needs fixing, but good lighting separates extraordinary filming/directing from the rest of the crap heap
music:
-the band needs a stronger rhythm section, i can't even hear the bass, and the drums need to create more division during different moods of the song
-turn down the pedal steel, i like steel as much as everybody else, but it was too loud
-turn up the acoustic guitar
-singer guy should try and sing better. it is what it is
-the lead was cheesy and didn't fit well
-the song moved too slow in general and felt longer than it actually was. just doesn't hold my attention. sure ya'll like the song, because you wrote it, but 1:30 into that thing down at the bar, people are gonna be talking or going to get drinks
-the chick needs to put more confidence into her singing. but that comes with time i guess
take this fwiw, even though you probably won't. I'm a musician and former film guy. maybe i'm a little too harsh, but if nobody ever tells you you're doing anything wrong, you'll never do anything right
ETA: with funny clothes like that, eclectic instruments like they have, and a chick lead singer, they're pretty much ready to break out as the next big indie band
