Did Sabbath rip any older artists off by not giving them proper credit until they were forced to?

What a lame take

More of a preference question. I should have been more clear in my OP.

I was gonna guess it would be more split but seems like more Zeppelin fans on here. I totally understand too.

No, it's a legitimate question. I don't remember that ever happening to B.S.

Yea if the mods could just shut this thread that’ll be great…

Haha. I thought there would be more of a balance. Boy was I wrong.

Meh……if anything Page ripped it off from the Jeff Beck Group who ripped it off.

Led Zepplin’s body of work>>>>>>Sabbath and I am big Sabbath and Ozzy fan.

I don’t think this is true at all. Sabbath’s body of work stands up to LZ quite well.
Two very different bands though

I like Sabbath better but I think Jimmy Page is better than Tony Iommi.

Who did Iommi plagiarize?

I like both but prefer LZ with Led Zeppelin IV being the main reason.

No fan of dark music so never cared for Sabbath.

Never a big fan of Zep but after learning of their thievery, kinda soured on them.

Can't imagine Robert Plant biting the head of a bat off

What’s this have to do with the music?

I love Sabbath too and they are really the godfathers of heavy metal but they were kind of a one trick pony,

No way Sabbath could ever write or perform some the acoustic, more melodic material that Zeppelin did.....and combined acoustic music with rock as exemplified by the greatest hit of all time: Stairway to Heaven. Jimmy Page had more talent and vision than all of them put together.

The plagiarism claim is a lame take: may have been sort of true on Led Zeppelin I but plenty of original hits on that first record and starting on LZ II there was no looking back.

There is no other band that sounds like Led Zeppelin they were their own unique thing.

Though one.

I like both.

Just my opinion but I think Sabbath’s best is better than Zeppelin’s best. But Zeppelins lows are better than Sabbath’s.

Zeppelin to me was more consistent.

Once again I disagree. You aren’t giving Iommi enough credit. It’s not that they couldn’t have done it…they chose not to do it. Two different styles.

By albums:

Black Sabbath vs. I = LZ
Paranoid vs. II =BS (this BS is perfection)
Master of Reality vs. III =BS (but close as both a bit of a let down)
Vol. 4 vs. IV =LZ and not really close
Sabbath B.S. vs. HOH =LZ
Sabotage vs. PG =BS (another awesome entry by BS and PG has some throw away material but lots of songs)
Technical Ecstasy vs. Presence =LZ

Pretty close by album and a tie if you leave off their respective seventh albums.

Coincidentally, my two all time favorite albums. Just total perfection.
