I’ve never heard of Ryan Adams, till today, and if it weren’t for Bryan Adam’s I still wouldn’t have heard of him.

Not that you asked, but Ryan had a couple of well publicized meltdowns on stage over people in the crowd shouting out Bryan Adams requests. He eventually became friendly with Bryan Adams and even covered a Bryan Adams song not long before the metoo stuff hit him. It's a really good cover.

I only know that because I read the paper daily and there's a celebrity birthday list in there. I did a double take when I saw the almost identical names.

I love his music, and I think Wednesdays and Big Colors are great. But his behavior is nothing new. He has pulled shite like this many times in the past. Still like listening to his music though, even though he's a strange cat, and probably a shitbag.

Agreed. I haven't heard Big Colors yet but really liked Wednesdays.

He was a high school dropout and seems like he didn't have the best of childhoods. His dad left at a young age and he was mostly raised by his grandparents. Not that it should be an excuse to be a shitty human, but I'm sure that has some influence on him.

In interviews I've seen with him, he just doesn't come off as someone who ever matured as a person. His songs can seem like they were written by someone who's world wise, but in person, he's almost childlike. It's almost like two different people.

“Kinda broke” is also relative: On June 24, Adams posted that Big Colors had eclipsed 5 million streams, and while Spotify absolutely does not pay artists enough per stream, that’s a large enough number that it still would result in a healthy chunk of cash. (5 million Spotify streams translates to roughly $20,000, and Big Colors is obviously not Adams’s sole source of income)

Ryan Adams is one of the most overrated artists of all time. Critical darling; mediocre stuff.
