re: Rock song building of the late 70s. That was the greatest time.

I’m in a cover band that only plays 1970s era guitar rock …and it’s a blast!
I’ve enjoyed covering a lot of that stuff in the past. Walk This Way, Rock n Roll, Mississippi Queen, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, You Really Got Me, Whipping Post, Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love, etc.
While I was never a big fan of Foreigner or Bad Company, I really enjoy Van Halen and Boston from that era.

I used to burn through cassettes with my Tascam Portastudio 414 4-Track.
I wish I still had one of those in working condition.

The first Boston record is perfect in every way. Songwriting, musicianship, engineering, production, arrangement, ground breaking sounds.
I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like in the 70s to throw that on the turntable for the first time at an extremely loud volume. I’m still blown away every time I spin it.

It was amazing. Sill remember it like it was yesterday. Used to rattle my windows on that beautiful Foreplay/Long Time intro.

Saw just about every old skool band here live. Young kids don’t have a clue. Mine do.

I never had that on vinyl, but it sounded fantastic on my 8 track, cruisin around the Decatur Boat Harbor, blastin out of my Sparkomatic 40-watt amp and 3-way speakers!
Come to think of it, they might have been dual cones. Money was tight in those days.

Modern recording methods have had to have made a mental impact on all musicians
Yep, it breeds crappy music.

Blue Oyster Cult has a huge catalogue with a varied sound. One of my favorites from the 70s, early 80s.
