Laiho was an absolute prodigy. I was never the biggest fan of his style of music, but there aren't many guitarists better.

This one won’t get much visibility, but he was a metal giant. Sat in my room many hours jamming to COB in middle school/early high school. They were a gateway band for me that led to the discovery of a ton of great music.

Yea - their music is not my cup either, but what a talent. Another one gone way too soon.

I saw Bodom open for Megadeth on the Gigantour about 8-9 years ago & they were great. I became an immediate fan from there on out. The Scandinavian bands have such a unique sound no matter the genre of metal. This is a huge loss. RIP.

Is this drug related? I know the band broke up because everyone else hated him so I assume he's either a huge a-hole, drug addict, or both. His new band was supposed to put out their first album this year.
I saw COB three times, always opening for LOG. First time was 2004 with LOG, Fear Factory, COB, and Throwdown. Next was 2006 with LOG, COB, and Thine Eyes Bleed. It was an off date from the bigger tour which also had Slayer and Mastodon. Last time I saw them was in Lafayette with LOG, As I Lay Dying, COB, Municipal Waste, and God Forbid.

I know it’s not cool speculate but...the dude has looked like a corpse for the last several years.
Unofficial word is that his drinking caused some type of serious liver damage/pancreatitis/stomach issues over the years. I think he’s been clean for awhile but the damage is or was already done.

Man, I just heard about this. What a loss. RIP Alexi.

Bodom got me into the Scandinavian metal scene and showed me that bands that screamed with amazing music were actually tolerable. I loved his melodic riffs and leads dueling with the keyboard. His chops were otherworldly.
Great workout/running music.

This sucks. Not a good start to the year for metalheads.
