Not bad...interesting guitar work. Vocals could be better, but I think the mix is as much to blame as anything.

Definitely has possibilities. I'd stay and listen if you were playing.

What kind of equipment will you be using? Just remember, clarity on the front end, volume on the back. Try to eliminate all clipping from your master tracks. Spend the necessary time and set your gains properly or you'll be trying to polish a turd later. It's easier to expand a waveform than contract it.

Sounds pretty good. Overall thumbs up. Very quick thoughts (note: I'm leaving out the positive stuff - there was plenty - I'll just focus on what I'd work on):

I think the drummer and bass could tighten up. I think the bass sounds like a guitar (this may be on purpose) but I think you need more low end and less competition with the other instruments.

There is a lot going on in the middle part (for a long time). Everyone is solo-ing -- everyone needs to back off. Think negative space. Think less is more.

Push
pretty good. Again, I'd play fewer notes up. You have busy drums, busy guitar and a busy bass that's competing in the upper frequencies. Just once (the next time you practice): try to get everyone to play 1/2 as many notes (including drums)-- and see how much it opens up. Everyone seems to be playing eitht notes and quarter notes. That's to much "attack". I have no idea what you're trying to say b/c you're all saying it so loud (if you know what I mean).

The chorus - way too much. It's a relief when the verse starts again. This may be due to the recording though


Overall (on recordings): I think you have a good thing going. I like the vibe/feel. Bass is competing with lead stuff (it is not a lead instrument). Stop boosting 1k -4.5kh (mids/upper mids). Lay the foundation with the bass. Drummer: play less (only throw in the James Brown shuffle once in a while - it will have a much bigger impact when you do). You play it all the time so it becomes boring and meaningless. Keep it simple. Guitars. Both sound similar - both play a sort of edge/u2 type style. Maybe one could focus on chords a little more to fill up the song. All your delay/picking covers up the drummer). Everyone is playing quarter notes and eight notes (and 16th and 32nd).... It's too much. Vocalists - they're fine - band singers are all so unique - reminds me of Robert Smith. It's fine to my ears although I think there was a different singer on last track?? I prefer the singing on 1-3.

White lies: (live video) again : I went the the chorus and the drummer is playing 16th notes on the high hat, the lead guitarist is picking as fast as he can. The bass appears to be soloing in the upper registers... Oh yeah and the singers trying to tell a story :) There's just too much going on. Feature 1 thing at a time.

You have some good things going on that I don't mention. Don't think I think it's terrible or anything. I don't have time for a lot of positive feedback. I really like the overall vibe. I just think if everyone did less - it would sound much bigger/spacious etc.
