Priest is ( along with Sabbath) the band that laid the cornerstone for heavy metal ..my top 5 albums from 5 to 1 are as follows:
5.Painkiller - super heavy ,almost thrashy . never lets up intensity
4.Sad Wings of Destiny --first 4 songs are all classics
3.Defenders of the Faith --once again song after song seems to get better and better as you listen to this album .hard to find a bad track on the album
2.Sin after Sin -- my #1 and #2 could change places they are that close
1.Stained Class-- a masterpiece. Beyond The realms of Death is a top 5 metal song of all time IMO
so there you go ..Priest fans .list your top 5

How the fuq you leave out Screaming for Vengeance? Top 5 for sure.

I did too. Damn
I agree screaming should have been my 4th.
My apologies. It’s Friday, I’m drinking, and on my phone.

Have an upvote for the best topic of the day but....
1. British Steel (can't help it, i grew up w/ this);
2. Stained Class (could easily be 1);
3. Point Of Entry (that's right, POE, screw you);
4. Screaming For Vengeance (as if they thought they had to make up for 3, which was actually better); and
5. Sin After Sin (first three songs as good as any album's first three, and Starbreaker my favorite JP song).

1. British Steel
2. Screaming for Vengeance
3. Painkiller
4. Defenders of the Faith
5. Stained Class
On a side note, their last album Firepower is great. Check it out.
And their cover of Johnny Be Goode might be the worst cover song any band has ever done in the history of recorded music.

Any list without Screaming for Vengeance is wrong
Priest was a lot like Maiden in that they had a lot of albums with one or two great songs but overall very meh. SfV not one of them.

I could have easily put screaming for veg in the top 5 ,along with 2-3 more of their albums but to say its clearly better than top 5 i listed is just not correct . I would probably put it at 6 or 7 along with British Steel. so it just missed my cut . Just like i could switch my #s 1 nd #2 very easily on any given day .

1. Screaming for Vengeance (1982)
2. Sad Wings of Destiny (1976)
3. Painkiller (1990)
4. Defenders of the Faith (1984)
5. Firepower (frick it, I know they have better albums, but Firepower rules, and the fact that they're still putting out bangers like this after 45+ years is incredible)

I have tried a few times but I just can't really get that enthusiastic for Sad Wings of Destiny.
I can't really order them well since I skipped several years/recordings with them. Painkiller and recent records, Redeemer of Souls and Firepower getting lots of notice of returning to heights got my attention back at times.
British Steel
Screaming For Vengeance
Stained Class
Firepower
Painkiller
