re: Post your favorite post-punk jams from the late 70's/early 80's

I guess I really see OMD more as an alternative synthpop or New Wave but maybe that still falls under this post-punk genre. This whole post-punk label just seems so large that anything that wasn't mainstream rock or pop or early punk is post-punk. I just thought it meant that early goth/synth/industrial type sound with some type of artsier/moodier imagery. But that's just me.
One band that never got the recognition as a Factory Records band that the others received was Section 25. their early stuff was typical post-punk similar to Joy Division but they went on to release an awesome techno album, From the Hip, produced by Bernard Sumner. It really doesn't get the praise it deserves for something released in 84. Looking from the Hilltop was a popular club tune back in the day but the entire album is fantastic.

But hey move it back in the darker direction by all means. I like the stuff you posted, it sounds like what Joy Division might have sounded like if Ian hadn't of died.

Ooooh that was Kafka just being kafka.

Tones on Tail was a Daniel Ash side project with Kevin Haskins until Bauhaus broke up and then he released a full album as Tones on Tail before they rejoined with David J and formed Love & Rockets.

The Verlaines are a close second...
The Flyning Nun label out of NZ really was a great showcase for the "Dunedin Sound" in the early 80s...
Also check out.. The Bats, The Chills, 3Ds, Baltier Space, Tall Dwarfs and Straitjacket Fits... David kilgour and Chis knox's solo records are very good too...
