Yes, those first two Maiden albums are awesome. So raw and heavy. In high school, saw an add for Killers in a rock magazine back in 81, immediately went out and bought the album and have been a fan ever since.

Yeah, not sure what he sounded like at the very end but even a couple of years ago you could see some YouTube videos of his gigs. He was chair-bound but his vocals damn near sounded the same as they did when he was in Maiden.

ETA: I love Bruce of course. One of the all time great rock vocalist and performers and honestly my top 2-4 favorite Maiden songs are Bruce songs, but damn there’s a lot of great ones on those first two albums.

R.I.P.
Running Free is the first Maiden song I learned to play.
Sad news.

Crazy that the Maiden appearance was only 14 years after The Beatles appeared:

The guy was half Brazilian half English but took an Italian name for some reason. Steve Harris and the agent kicked him out of the band and gave him a lump sum payment for his rights in the first two albums. I guarantee you that was a bad idea. I get why they kicked him out. Steve Harris was basically writing everything and the agent had control of the marketing aspects (he is the one who found the artist and secured the Eddie album covers) and he started bitching about that situation.

Sad news indeed. Those first two Maiden albums are classics. I’m sure I lost some of my hearing blasting them on my Walkman. Godspeed Paul.
