The guy is an icon in my book and Helmet is one of my all-time favorite bands. I've also known for some time that he is incredibly down to earth and super friendly to the fans after their shows.
I got to talk to him again after the show Friday night. Was thanking him for coming to Jax yet again and talking about how much they've been through here recently when he looked at my hat. He asked if it's an LSU hat (doesn't say it on front, just the eye). When I said hell yeah he immediately started going on and on about how much he likes LSU and loves Les Miles and what a great coach and person he is. He told me he's an Oregon Duck fan and is sick of Alabama and hates Urban Meyer. I agreed on both of course. We talked Fournette too and he agreed with me that if he stays healthy he'll win the Heisman. I told him it would be awesome for the Tigers and Ducks to meet up in the playoff and he agreed. Said he would love that.
How many rock stars are even that astute about college football, much less go on and discuss it for 5+ minutes with an ordinary Joe Blow fan? Love the guy even more now.
I know... CSB.
Pretty cool to me at least.
ETA: I only just saw this morning (Monday) what Utah did to Oregon Saturday night. Guess that won't be happening.

He is from New York so that is kind of odd that he follows the SEC and Pac 12. I believe their current drummer is from New Orleans though.

Yeah he must have some kind of connection out there in addition to being from New York. I know he is also a 49ers fan.
He always introduces Kyle as being from Wisconsin. He somehow had cousins in the crowd Friday night. Interestingly enough, guitarist Dan Beeman is from Florida so Page said they spent time with his parents that day too.
Speaking of Kyle Stevenson, I've seen comments on other media before from "fans" highly critical of Page and saying "No John Stanier, no Helmet" and stupid crap like that. Now I LOVE John Stanier, but what a crock of shite!!! Page Hamilton has always been THE main man of Helmet. Helmet has always been his baby. And furthermore, I paid very close attention to Kyle and while he may not have created those Stanier beats, he sure as hell absolutely NAILED every single one of them. He was fantastic!! But go ahead dumbasses, deprive yourselves of seeing a great show by a band that I personally have NO problem referring to as Helmet.

And by the way... Kinda buried in the other thread, so here's a couple of videos from Friday night.

I saw them last fall and thought Page was very cool too.
Also agree about Kyle. The drums and those beats are what drive the Helmet sound and make it a little different. He did a great job.

Seeing what you wrote here reminded me of that underrated drummer thread. I started thinking... I think someone replied to my John Stanier submittal and I replied to them. Or did I? Just looked back and it was you and I didn't reply. How rude.
Guess I got busy.
ETA: But yeah. Stevenson does a GREAT job with Stanier's parts. I like his own drumming as well on Seeing Eye Dog.
