Yea basically what Alan Jackson and Geoerge Starit do. Are they not "artists" because they don't actually play the guitar at their shows?
Is there a difference between what Kenny was doing and having th guitar around your neck, plugged in, but just not playing it?

first off, i don't listen to country music because it's god fricking awful so i couldn't care less how many of those assholes are up there not performing their music
second, i've seen more live music than you. fact.
i don't need to explain to you the countless number of real "artists" i've seen not only performing live, but improvising through their sets. takes true talent to read an audience and base your performance off of the crowd, which is something i know is above ole Kenny Chesneys head.
you're world and understanding of music seems very small and limited to only country music.

I've seen George live and he was playing acoustic and there was an acoustic signal coming from him with no other acoustic on the stage.
Regardless, if he or Jackson are using the guitar as a prop, it doesn't make it any better.
You are trying to deflect attention away from Kenny chesney in this thread. This thread is about him playing guitar (or acting like it) without even having a plug in the input jack.

I understand that. And I agree its shitty to not even pretend like you are actually playing. My point is I don't see how it is a huge deal beacuse you wouldn't hear his guitar anyway.

I'll admit I've only seen George twice with the most recent coming 2 years ago. He was plugged in and all but i only remember seeing him touch the strings during a couple of songs. Most of the time he just stood there with the guitar and sang. I guess what I'm saying is that I would put that on about the same level as what Chesney was doing.

if this is what you're referring to i was a little vague in my statement, i didn't make it clear enough that i don't listen to country music precisely for the reason that they play with their guitars unplugged...
when i'm paying money to see music, i expect the artist to perform and improvise, not sound like he does in the studio.

Usually what they sound like in the studio is about as good as it's going to get. If I go see an artist live and they sound just like the record I would say that is a positive.

Musicians don't improvise in the studio, and that's where you see real talent come out. If they just sound like they do on the record, you don't find that boring?

Yea I agree to an extent. Improvising a little is good. I don't like when they sound completely different though.
ETA: I was talking vocals. As far as playing goes, yes I definitely like that
