When it came out, I couldn't get enough of I Will Follow. Wore the grooves off that record.

I have it on vinyl and recently bought a minty copy of the original from Capital City Records. "I will Follow" is my favorite U2 song before The Joshua Tree arrived. GREAT album.

Might recommendation to you as another is Simple Minds "Empires and Dance".

The Dream Syndicate - Days of Wine and Roses
Game Theory - Lolita Nation
Los Lobos - How Will the Wolf Survive?
Lone Justice - S/T
Soul Asylum - Hang Time
Blake Babies - Earwig

(admittedly, most of these are considered great by some subset of folks)

It was a decent album. I didn't just play the hit song. I played the whole thing. They had some talent. They were probably poorly managed. And poorly packaged and marketed. And their recordings probably could have been better produced. But they were okay.

Prince-Controversy-to me, it holds up as well as 1999 despite not achieving the same chart success and was indicative of where Prince was progressing musically, which culminated in the powerhouses Purple Rain and Sign O The Times. Was critically acclaimed but seemingly held in less regard than Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain and Sign O The Times for whatever reason

Madonna-Eponymous-was panned by critics upon release in 1983 and slowly attained commercial success with each succeeding single. Really embodied dance-pop of the early 80s but overshadowed by the mega-blockbusters of Like a Virgin and True Blue in her catalogue
