Old Western Music - Ghost Riders in the Sky

I enjoy trying out new genres of music - been listening to some old western songs. "Ghost Riders in the Sky" is an incredible song, great lyrics and many good versions.
I kind of like the Frankie Lane version:
LINK
A 1949 version by Burl Ives surprised me because I like old movies and think of him as an actor, not a singer (but now I know better):
LINK
Vaughn Monroe version (his baritone voice is perfect for the song, as are the muted horns in teh background):
LINK
I also like the Johnny Cash version.

I almost exclusively listen to classic country these days. Great stuff.

I don't care for the twangy class stuff. I like the deeper male voices, which is why the western element appeals to me (Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash). I enjoy listening to classic pickers like Roy Clark, Buck Trent, and Earl Scruggs.
Patsy Kline had a beautiful voice, and I enjoy the Owen Bradley productions in particular.

Plainsong - "The Goodnight Loving Trail"
The lead singer had been in the great UK folk-rock band Fairport Convention with Richard Thompson and the late Sandy Denny

Check out a guy named David Bradley who was with the Sons of the Pioneers if you enjoy this type of music. My Dad worked with him in Branson for several years. The guy is very, very good.

I like the song El Paso.
There have been some good recommendations on this thread.
Thanks - this board always delivers.
I like all kinds of music - right now I'm looking into rowdy Irish rock bands that mix rock with Irish folk and Western.

My dad used to play guitar as a hobby when I was young...the only 2 songs I really remember were Ghost Riders in the Sky and Delta Dawn. I loved that song.

According to Ray Manzarek, GRITS inspired the music for ROTS. I heard that in an interview of Ray.

Some of my favorites
Frankie Laine - They Call the Wind Mariah
The theme from Hang 'Em High
And if you want to see great cinematography coupled with perfect sound:
The opening from Once Upon a Time in the West
Part 2
