I would say so, if we are going off the base definition of metal/hip-hop. They are another that were kind of the birth of the genre.

I'd tend to agree, however I think Weezer was also one of the originators of what became nu metal.

Yet you admit this, but have Nirvana on your list?

well so was Green Day. green day is closer to nu metal than weezer IMO

green day are pretty much the flag bearers of nu metal. they were wearing adidas jumpsuits before anyone else.

Eh, they really helped bring in more of the emo/modern punk genre than nu metal, but I won't disagree with you. More splitting hairs at that point.

Since we are talking about nu metal inspirations some here, have to mention Beastie Boys. They are not nu metal, i think they called it rapcore or something, but their impact is undeniable.

Monster, can please stop joking around in Burt's thread. Jimmy Eat World is the best grunge band in the 90's/00's, but they ain't Nu-Metal.

Agreed, but as I said, their inspiration on nu metal is pretty undeniable. Them and Rage helped pave the way for basically rapping while playing rock.
