LINK

For a guy who has released some legendary guitar solos, this one is immediately top 3. Unreal.

This is great. He hasn’t aged in 30 years.

There's not much I could say about Nuno that I haven't already been saying for decades. The new single and vid just further backs my assertion. He's the MVP. Absolute total package as both a guitarist and as a rounded musician.

God bless him for taking on the role of torch bearer for my generation of rock guitarists. I cannot think of a better man for the job.

Nuno is, by far, my favorite guitar player of all time. I'm a bass player by trade, but other than Billy Sheehan, he has been the biggest influence on me as a musician...

My top 5 guitar hero list:

1) Nuno
2) Petrucci
3) Paul Gilbert
4) Dimebag
5) Phil Keaggy

Eh. It definitely sounds super 80s and as if nothing at all has changed or moved forward. I mean, I love this kind of guitar work, but there's nothing particularly gripping about it. Actually sounds a lot like a Vai imitation.

Extreme really just never were great songwriters. It's why they were always B tier at best.

Well, we all have our opinions, right? There are not many guitar players in the world who could play that solo to the song I linked…you can discount it if you like, but it is really, really good.

I think what ultimately hurt Extreme is Nuno’s determination to self produce…their first 3 albums, with respected producers, were very successful…the second album, Pornograffiti, was produced by a friend of mine named Michael Wagener. That album sold several million copies. After their 3rd album they started self producing and went to a very stripped down, organic approach. It hasn’t worked.

Anyway, these are my opinions. Again we all have them.

Sure, I love solos like that. It's just nothing new at all. He could have done that (and did) in 1991. (But also, there are literally hundreds that could do it - I just don't think that's very important.)

We could go song by song through those albums and talk about how overall weak the songs are. Ironically, 2 of the best songs - More Than Words and When I First Kissed You - aren't even metal at all (except for the acoustic solo on the extended version of More Than Words )

Yeah, legend. I would love to sit down and pepper him with questions. I also think it's crazy that he doesn't seem to have ever worked much with Helloween (given the German origin).

Have you ever talked to him about 18 and Life?

Also, would obvi like to talk to him about Fleming Rasmussen.

Curious about So Far, So Good, So What - that is Megadeth's most poorly mixed album (outside of the debut). Did they just deliver him crap from the studio?

And FOR frickING REAL, I want to talk to him about White Lion and Vito. (Perfect example of a mind-blowing guitarist being in a band with excellent songwriting.)

He's all about the song, exactly how it should be.
