Yeah, he looked less like the frontman of a progressive rock band, and more like a member of Wham

He mellowed out alot in his older years, but man, those younger days were something else...

No ones said Cocaine Wayne Toups yet? Manu Chao gets my vote as well. Saw him at Bonaroo in the late 2000's and he was just an explosion of energy. I would've loved to know how much cocaine he did before that show.

Also James Brown needs to be somewhere at the top of this list.

JB was actually pretty square, especially about any sort of hard drugs until he was a grown arse man (like in the late 1970s, when he was in his 40s). Then, instead of testing the waters and going easy, he went headfirst into PCP.

It was off to the races, then.

I would not normally think of him in this category, but Van seems coked out here.

That's just his way of performing. Van, while not necessarily straight edge, was not a drug user. He is just an eccentric musician. He reminds me much of Mike Patton, who was has never done drugs but appeared to be high in just about everything he did.

Not sure where to find info on all of this (I just know of it from being a fan of Van for many years), but here's a quick snippet I found in an article

Morrison’s route to the spiritual plane was through music, not drugs. (A notorious drunk during his time in Boston, he is said to have eschewed dope after “burning [his] brain on hash” when he was younger.) The singer seems to have been guided by his subconscious in creating “Astral Weeks.” Some of the songs emerged from dreams and reveries. Morrison was a student of the occult who believed in automatic writing.

Didn't both Waylon and Glenn Frey have to have work done to their septums due to cocaine use?

Mick Fleetwood. Blew (not intended) $60 million on coke.

Stevie Nicks was a power user also, she admitted to carrying a gram in her boot at all times back in the day, and was on the verge of needing some major nose renovation when she quit.

I don't see it. Just looks like an energetic performance.

Fleetwood Mac is the quintessential cocaine band. Followed by the Eagles.
