Are they playing a different show now?

Reason I ask is that I saw them twice several years ago and it was the same damn show. Concerts were about a year apart.

I've seen "newer" shows put up on YouTube, and sure enough, same show.

I get it, there have only been two albums since 2001, but it would be nice to change up the set a bit.

Probably not. They used to tour with 3-4 setlists that they would rotate, but the last few tours have been static. I have stopped traveling to see them due to this; there's no point spending the time and money to see the same exact setlist 2-3 times in a row.

Still it is a great show and worth seeing once.

So weird they are playing huge arenas in some markets and fairly small arse arena in others. (Houston show has 3 times the capacity of Dallas).. also Pelicans play day before & after in Nola; so don't expect a second show added

How's the sound in te SKC? I've only seen Tool once--2001 at the hockey arena in St Louis and the sound was terrible.

I find the sound in every arena to be terrible. Others may have a more nuanced opinion.

I've seen Tool at the SKC, they sounded fine. Show was boring as hell though.

My tickets are in section 319 at the smoothie king center. Anyone familiar with the seating know if we are going to be able to see the stage.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, TOOL kicked off its 2016 North American tour on Wednesday night (January 6) at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, performing the same set list that they delivered at their single 2015 show last Halloween in Arizona and opening with a cover of LED ZEPPELIN's "No Quarter". Also like they did at the fall gig, the band played a new instrumental called "Descending".

The stage show featured an almost overpowering array of lasers, along with singer Maynard James Keenan — in his usual shadowy corner near the back of the stage — dressed in a costume that Rolling Stone described as either "an armored, 'Dark Knight'-era Batman or a riot cop." The band also rolled out its now customary barrage of video images behind them as they played.

That's a nice setlist, but it's short. That's the downfall of the prog scene: longer songs = shorter setlists. The Robocop suit is pretty nifty, although I'm not sure how anyone will know he is wearing it all hidden in the shadows and such.
