New album by a new band, Hut Hut. This one will be hit or miss for most, but I enjoyed it. The singer's voice can be grating...he sort of sounds like Perry Ferrell at times. He also used to be in the band, Boats, which I also liked.

Listen tot he full album on bandcamp: LINK

I’ll probably check out Frances Quinlan too. I like Hop Along, so I imagine I will like her solo stuff. Wasn’t crazy about the Carry the Zero cover though.

Just gave John Moreland’s new one a listen. Sounds pretty solid. He seems to have changed it up a little in the producing and uses drum machines and electronic fillers on some tracks.

What else is new?

This is the stuff I'm checking out this week:

John Moreland
Leon Bridges/Khruangbin
The Lone Bellow
Gil Scott-Heron (new re-working of We're New Again by Makaya McCraven)
Antibalas

Also listening to the new Possessed by Paul James and Tomar and the FCs records, a couple of local Austin bands.

Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats put out a collaboration. I'm a big fan of Denzel and the production is solid. I want to check the John Moreland out later.

There's a new green day album. I gave it a listen this morning. Was ok...but had it on in the background. They definitely went for a different sound.

Yeah, I’m definitely interested in giving it a listen. Judging by their performance on the AMAs I could tell it was going to be a lot different. I was a huge fan (teenage years) of all of their albums up through Dookie. Kind of lost me after that but usually give each album a shot.

New John Moreland album is awesome. This new sound feels like a natural progression for him.

Sort of like a fat American David Gray

Friday 2/14/20 Good Morning. Tame Impala and Nathaniel Rateliff have new albums out. I’m digging the Tame Impala album. Nothing ground breaking but I’ll be jamming to it at work or while running.
What’s else is new?

just gave this record a spin this morning and I pretty much totally agree. I absolutely love tame impala, and I'm glad Kevin stuck with what he knows on this album

small changes but generally feels like a continuation of their last album, Currents, which was a 10/10 for me

he seems more keen on getting melodies from piano than guitar this time around, I think it paid off.

right now it's got an 8.0 on Pitchfork, Currents was like a 9.3, if you care about what pitchfork thinks.

favorite tracks so far is Borderline by far

if you have a spotify account, you can listen to the album with little interviews in between some of the tracks where Kevin talks about writing/making the song
