Yep..you are now 0 for 2.....wouldn't walk across the street to see them if it was free

Not the "major" announcement I was hoping it would be, but a good pull all the same. Love all of their music, and (unfortunately) I've never been able to see them live. What sucks most is that I likely won't be able to make this show either. Nursing school and mid-week concerts don't mesh very well.

You are the only person I have heard claim this... Never heard anything about them being a great live act before this thread.
You don't follow live music much. These dudes have had an international reputation as an incredible live act for a while now. They had a live concert playing on Palladia a few months back. Go YouTube some of their shows and you'll get an idea of how hard these dudes play. The drummer duct tapes headphones to his head for Christ sake.

Oh brother.
Why even post in this thread?

I don't doubt that Mutemath puts on a good show but to claim that they are the best live band touring is a BIG stretch.

A ton of music critics feel the same way

they just played chelseas last year, right? but I guess you're right that they never played the varsity...
I'd hope that booking a NOLA band shouldnt be hard in BR...
Oh well, good luck to your boy on the show...
(live show better than MMJ or Wilco?? really??)

Next to maybe at the drive in or refused, Mutemath is one of the best live acts in the world. They have a reputation.
Really? There goes any credibility you may have had. I've seen MuteMath at 3 festivals and while its a fun show, I don't think anyone had their mind blown or anything.
Are you completely forgetting about jambands who have legions of fans follow them from show to show? Not to mention Phish is on a tear right now and is in the middle of their best tour in a while.

I like MuteMath, great show and all but I could honestly list 50 current touring bands that are better. I'm not going to type it out on my phone but maybe when I get home to my desktop.

What a let down.
You people are ridiculous, you know that?
It'll sell out in presales with a line outside the door with people trying to get it.
They usually play 1500+ venues, so playing the varsity is a good thing.
They are also always playing voodoo fest and other national fests... On tour with incubus and linkin park coming up.

You're a joke mon

I'm a joke? You think touring with Linkin Park and Incubus is a good thing? You just have a shitty taste in music.

I've never seen them live so I can't comment on their live show.
I was expecting more of a "surprise," like the Flaming Lips. These guys are regularly on tour throughout the country. There is no reason they wouldn't book a date in a large college town at a venue the size of the Varsity.
should be a sell out and definitely moving in the right direction for the Varsity.

It's a good thing as far as being on big tours.
But you wouldn't have a clue about the live music industry.
Linkin park, incubus, bush... I don't listen to any of those bands.
But I want you to list 50 bands that put a better show on than mutemath

Maybe it speaks to how bad the varsity had been getting, but a mid-level national act from NOLA should be playing the Varsity once a year anyway.
This is the type of booking that should go on the schedule and you just see and think "that should be a good one," but to have a 6 page thread about the "huge" show coming to town, makes everyone justifiably expect a truly national act. If you started the thread this morning with the name of the band in the title from jump, you'd get nothing but positive response. You're only doing it to yourself.
