yea, i knew that. that's why I referenced them. I thought that was a pretty cool show for the varsity. I never would've seen that coming.

They don't play these large venues around here. Chelsea's, OEJs, and Outlaw's in Lafayette certainly don't hold 1500.

I will when I get to my computer. Also note that I am not restricted to Varsity-sized artists since you said they are "one of the best live acts in the world"

I've never seen them live so I can't comment on their live show.

They are incredible. Ive seen them in a big venue, and also at Chelsea's for the special show they did there.

Sigh

That was a special string of shows they did for the odd soul tour. They wanted to play like 6 small venue shows to promote the new album.

They play HUGE venues man. I know what I'm talking about. frick, go look at their tour they have lined up.

Doc, I feel you on this one. These people apparently think that bands that sell out 20,000 person arenas are going to come play the Varsity. Mutemath in a smaller setting is going to be great. Darren King is a phenomenal drummer.

cut the guy some slack. He's trying to get some excitement going for live music in BR, a town that everyone admits could use a shot in the arm in that area. Maybe he's a little over zealous and probably assumes more people share his tastes than actually do.

You know that scene in space balls when dark helmet says "I'm surrounded by assholes"?

Yeah, that's what I feel like most times on this board. People honestly have no clue as to how the live music industry works, nor do they realize when a bad arse band comes through.

Well someone will, because this show will sell out next Friday when the tickets go on sale.

I don't feel like I should have to defend a band who has sold a shite ton of records, sells out every show they are playing lately, and puts on one of the best live shows right now. Complete with throwing an LED mattress out into th crowd and crowd surfing. Along with backflips into the crowd and hand stands onto top of keyboards

shake off the haters Doc. I went to the flaming lips show, and will try to get tickets to Mutemath. Probably won't see Bush but I understand it's a nice pull. Tell your boy to keep it up. I'll go see Galactic in September as well. More shows like Mutemath and New Orleans musicians will keep me there. Less shows like the Chee Weez.. but i'm sure they bring the crowds in as well.

You people are ridiculous, you know that?

It'll sell out in presales with a line outside the door with people trying to get it.

So would a Justin Bieber show, but that doesn't make it good.

Its a good show, and one that if you just saw it on the Varsity's calender would clearly be a good get. Not my style, but I know they'll sell out and that's good for the Varsity, and much better than a parade of cover bands.

I really think its more of an indictment of the recent state of the Varsity than anything else that a get like this might justify such buildup and hype.

If you've never seen mutemath or missed them on letterman, Conan, Leno, a major festival, or haven't caught them on YouTube (millions and millions of views), check them out:

Some fools on this board. Great pull on this show. I'd definitely go. Now, you guys please get Gary Clark Jr. lined up soon.
