Stone Roses were massive in the UK, but never were huge in the US (only a blip on alt/college stations)

First record may be perfect...

good nominees

I'll add groups that were giant in the UK but never busted out in the US...

old school- Slade, perhaps the most disproportionate success between UK & US, they were mega big there and only a bump in the US

XTC in the 70s & 80s had some good stuff that didn't get a lot of recognition

The Charlatans have had a ton of UK hits, they were/have been known here but nowhere near the scale of popularity

That song was always so 'trippy' as it was.

A second thought on Slades success in the 80's. with the popularity of MTV, a 'mugg' like their lead singer had surley could not have helped. Especially with guys like Simon LeBon.

Hell, Christopher Cross, was killed by the MTV video

Too close to 'college' sound for me. It's like they're close to having their own unique sound, but I just don't know.

My fav from Stone Roses is Elephant Stone and it's not close.

I don't get the Roxy underrated deal. Avalon and More Than This are good though. I've hated everything else I've heard.

Siren's 'Love is the Drug' got some airplay, and then the 80's romance stuff got some play (but was faaaar from their best output).
