Most underated band by U.S. from the UK- all time

It's Roxy Music
Their first four albums practically paved the way for half the UK/US acts people slob their knobs over on this board.
Yet only a handful of people even know who they are on this board
Their albums' Stranded' and 'Country Life'
were produced in 73'/74'
They were so far ahead of their time it wasn't fricking funny
And....There first four albums hold up quite well today

You mean in the US? They were superstars in England.
I would nominate Kaleidoscope -- they never had a hit in the UK, much less the US.

The Kinks -- during their greatest period they were banned from touring the US by the musician's union. As a result their greatest albums -- Something Else, Village Green Preservation Society, and Arthur -- went mostly unheard here.

Super-duper rare clip of the band on French TV -- possibly their only TV appearance
Kaleidoscope - "The Murder Of Lewis Tollani"
Fans of Syd Barrett-era Floyd should check them out
And in the interest of confusing equal time:
Kaleidoscope - "Taxim"
This is the American Kaleidoscope from the same era -- also a band worth checking out. Features slide virtuoso and future L.A. session star David Lindley.

I'd say Roxy Music is a pretty good call for most underated UK band in the US market.
If you like Roxy Music and think they're underated, I think you'll appreciate 801, a short lived band including Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera and ex-Roxy Music keyboardist Brian Eno. There are great live clips on youtube if you search "801 Live". I particularly like their cover of Tomorrow Never Knows <----(that's a bass playing clinic right there)
