Two of the best drummers that always come up in discussions on this board... Portnoy learns Tool Pneuma. Great video all the way though, especially intro, but final performance starts at 16m mark. Enjoy

MP is great but watching Danny Carey perform it live is cheating
!

Agree... I need to check out that app. Its been years since I drummed, but would love to get back into it.
Even though he got to see sheet music, listen multiple times, and watch some of the drumming, still amazing to get Pneuma in just 5hrs of playing around.

It's hilarious to see Mike get flustered trying to learn to play this. The dude can play practically anything. He solves this in a matter of hours, when your average drummer would need a lifetime. I can't wait to see Dream Theater again.

He killed it. He really gets comfortable in the second half of the performance. Only wish is that he would have played the Herta or triplet feel on the hats during the verse sections.

I’ve watched the video he watched a million times.
Wish I had a buddy with a drum set.

The video already has over 1 Million views! Drumeo really needs to get Danny Carey on now. Danny should probably start practicing The Dance of Eternity.

I have been a DT fan for over 20 years. I've seen them live many times. Portnoy is the one of top drummers alive. He can play anything from classic, to jazz, to death speed metal. He writes, composes and plays in multiple bands. He attended Berklee School of Music. Can't wait for the nrew DT album. It's going to crush everything!

Same here.
1998- with Emerson, Lake, and Palmer and Deep Purple
2002- with King's X and Joe Satriani
2008- Progressive Nation Tour with 3, Between The Buried And Me, and Opeth
2010- at Madison Square Garden opening for Iron Maiden
2023- with Animals as Leaders and Devin Townsend
I also saw Portnoy with John Petrucci on the G3 tour. Joe Satriani and Steve Vai rounded out that one.
Saw Portnoy/Sherinian/MacAlpine/Sheehan on the Progressive Nation at Sea cruise. Guest vocals from Devin Townsend, Dug Pinnick, and Tony Harnell.
I've also seen The Winery Dogs and Sons of Apollo.

Trying not to get my hopes too high. When I saw him perform with JP on Petrucci’s solo tour, the hair on my neck stood up. So glad he’s back in DT!

What’s the most difficult thing Buddy Rich ever did? Would be a video only for drum nerds though. Jazz drums. Lol

I'm sure they will, but won't be a sneak attack like with Portnoy if they get him to play DT. I'm sure Danny will be prepared
