I actually remember this, and their subsequent explosion afterward. They played at some frat house in Athens when I went there for the game in 09 and absolutely soared to new heights after that.

They actually blew up in summer '08. Those UGA cokehead fratboys probably paid a pretty penny for that psychedelic peformance.

Yeah, they were huge in '08. I tried to watch their show at ACL that year and couldn't even a good spot to watch from afar. It was ridiculous.

Yea they get big, then suddenly fall off after the release of their second album.

Their first album had 3 really good tracks on it.

Who are your favorite bands?

yeah, the second album really was a chore to listen to. First album is still a fun listen, and good party music.

I was there as well

Nobody has mentioned that Yeasayer opened for them that night and put on the better show by far...and I love me some MGMT

I've heard Silversun Pickups and Band of Horses there too....and about 2 weeks later they blew the F up

They played Mardi Gras Day in 2008. I remember debating whether to leave NOLA and get back to BR for the show but ended up not doing it.
