Isn't Chelsea's at a new venue? If so how is it? Curious what the layout is. Tried looking at the social media but don't see anything as far as concert/layouts.

it's now the best music/bar venue in baton rouge.

At least until Beauvoir Park and The Varsity reopen.

The location is perfect as far as getting on or off the interstate.. I'm guessing there's plenty of parking near the venue?

There’s a huge parking lot under the bridge next door to the venue.

I haven't driven that area in a few weeks and I wasn't sure if there was a sign that it was just for Past times and 13th Gate.. I'm guessing Chelsea's got the ok to use it as well?

The sign is still there, but having parked there the last two weekends as well as dozens of times visiting brickyard, I’ve never had a problem.

I like beauvoir park. the sound is awesome and have seen futurebirds twice there. but it's not a bar/venue. also I don't foresee it opening back up like it was.

as far as the varsity, it's just a bigger venue. but I think chelsea's as far as the vibe will ultimately be better.

I looked up Lucero after seeing this thread. They sound exactly like what I would imagine a band created by a focus group of this board’s most active posters would assemble

P.S. I actually enjoyed what I heard, I just had to share that observation.

I’m not a big alt country/americana scene guy. I usually enjoy it when I hear it, but rarely seek it out. The mostly acoustic singer/songwritery acts in that vein bore me pretty quickly, too, but I usually dig the ones that are a little more upbeat with a full band like Turnpike Troubadours.

Isnt beauvoir park doing all their shows at red stick social now? I don’t see them going back to the “yard” set up which sucks because it looked awesome and I never made it by. The Varsity is back open but they only have like 2 no name shows booked. I think Chelsea’s spells the end for the varsity

Yeah I don’t see the varsity competing or even wanting to compete with what Chelsea’s is doing/about to do. Unless the old talent buyer for varsity wants to get involved with booking again but I doubt he does.
