They are probably one of my favorite bands to come out this century. Sir Paul McCartney agrees. For some reason they have the teenage girl rep. following them around because of a few singles off of Oracular Spectacular. IMHO their follow up album Congratulations is way superior. Their new self-titled album is due out next month and appears to be even more experimental. Thoughts?

They had a few catchy songs from their first album. Haven't heard anything of that caliber since though.

MGMT are extremely forgettable. Did they ever do anything after "kids"?

Love them, but I'm not impressed with the new single "Your Life Is A Lie." You're right, Congratulations is better than Oracular Spectacular. They also have an amazing cover of Cleaners from Venus' "Only A Shadow."

That's what I am saying. They went away from mainstream after "kids" and created some awesome music that is virtually unknown by the general public.

Here are some examples of music off of "Congratulations"....

Their first album was the only one worth a shite. And they suck live considering they have pumped themselves full of heroin.

Yeah, they came back with Aussie accents and changed their name to Empire of the Sun

Yeah, I was convinced EotS was MGMT when I first heard "Walking on a dream" and was like "oh shite, MGMT just got fricking good"

Empire of the sun live is one of the best performances I've seen in a while. They get into it. Mgmt is good. Not an avid listener but enjoy them

You must prefer pop music over creative gambles. Not comparing the two bands but, you probably like Meet the Beatles over SPLHCB. They pumped themselves full of acid for that one.

I like some of their songs, but other than that, I'm pretty indifferent about them
