Louisiana or Mississippi : Which one is the birthplace of America's Music?

So I did some googling and came across this piece that was written 2 years ago. The author didn't seem to really like the fact that MS markets themselves as "the birthplace of America's music.

So what say you? Which state has the better claim?
I personally think the writer of author is butthurt about it but I'm biased.

Louisiana obviously has jazz. It also played a key role in the development of blues, funk, and hip hop.
Mississippi claims rock, but Chuck Berry invented rock and he was from St. Louis. I will give them that they played a significant role in the blues department.
I'd give Louisiana the nod (although I am biased), but the whole Delta region in general deserves the claim.

Chuck Berry didn't invent rock music and he certainly wasn't the first to record rock music.
"That's all right mama" by Arthur "big boy" Crudup is regarded as the first recorded rock song and it was recorded in 1946.

I just remember seeing an interview with Keith Richards where he credits Chuck Berry with being the most important figure in the development of rock music. I figured he had a better opinion on the issue than some random guy on an anonymous internet message board

Still, "Maybellene" is the first song that sounds like what I define as rock and roll

Just like football and the blowjob, I don't care who invented it, but I respect who perfected it. Its up for debate who invented rock n roll but its no doubt the Stones perfected it. Sold out shows in 6 decades.
