quote:Esp. "Cancer 4 Cure". Holy frickballs.
El-P
Also check out Odd Nosdam. He does a lot of the beats for Anticon rappers, but his solo shite (lyric-less) is out of this fricking world.

Also, if you're just looking for less mainstream hip hop:
Doomtree
P.O.S.
Dessa
Atmosphere
Chance the Rapper (though he's blown up pretty big lately)
Aesop Rock
Then old school alternative:
Del the Funky Homosapien
Digable Planets
Tribe Called Quest
Black Star
Common
Talib Kweli

I'm looking for that new Run the Jewels album slated to drop this year. El-P and Killer Mike are such a cool duo.

I'll have to check it out. That's how I feel about Clams Casino as far as producers. Incredible.

wax tailor can be really trippy at times.

Strangely enough, I was thinking about ol' Kool Keith, the crazy mofo that he is, the other day.
The only thing I can add to everyone else's list is Ol' Dirty Bastard, maybe.

I saw Wax play after Buck 65 in NOLA last fall. Very trippy.
On the trippy tip, don't sleep on Anti-Pop Consortium. "Fluorescent Black" is one of the most experimental hip-hop albums out there.

"Level Live Wires" (Nosdam) is one of the single greatest "instrumental" albums in existence. Perfect for a rainy day like today.

Company flow
I think el-p's first solo joint is his trippest work, fantastic damage.

What about Jedi Mind Tricks? Would they be considered "trippy"?

In all honesty, many of the beats even in mainstream hip hop have becoming increasingly "trippy" as of late. I keep telling people that hip hop is entering its psychedelic phase due to the prevalence of molly which is leading people in the scene to do other psychoactive drugs (like shrooms).
The production of people like Clams Casino and even Mike Will Made It (Move that Dope is such a freaking banger) is really interesting, imo.
