Why is he going back to a place he's not from ?
Was he dissing Cali ? He kept following up the "I'm going back to Cali" with " I don't think so"
Was this the beginning of the East Coast West Coast beef ?
Is LL resposible for the deaths of Big & Pac ?
Or was this song just about some stripper named Cali ?
Or maybe it is just all about oceans and sun tan lotions.......

Wasn't the song made for the Less Than Zero soundtrack? If so, that movie was about a college kid from Cali (LA) going back home at Christmas.

It was about LL's inability to cope with butt sex and California. He went out there to have a good time. And he did. He rised, surprised, advised and realized immediately after he got there. All those things are good. Then he went to the beach and met Cali. That's when shite got real. She sized him up with her small bikini and tall heels and made her move. He thought "hell yea" I'm about to get dis here. But Cali was fast. Faster than those bitchs on the East coast. LL followed her the beach (her apartment). Immediately she gave him a peach (some poon tang). The shite got real. Cali pulled out some sun tan lotion (KY jelly). LL was tempted I'm sure. He got her to close her eyes apparently about to give her a big surprise. But he couldn't do it. His conscience got to him and he said nah man I don't think so. So he snatched up the bottle of wine and kicked it back home. So now he's back in NY kicking it with the not so fast girls and starts longing to get back to Cali. But it's 1988. He's not ready. So even though he's tempted he keeps saying nah man I don't think so.

Exactly.
BTW, LL eventually breaks down and goes back to Cali and does the deed. And he loves it. That's what spawned the song Around the Way Girl (butt slut). It becomes the only girl for him as a matter of fack.
