The Velvet Underground - "Sweet Jane"

The Velvet Underground - "What Goes On" -- This version recorded in Vancouver is not the one I'm familiar with (which is from a Dallas show, and mysteriously missing from YouTube), but is from the same tour.

Everything grateful dead except box of rain and friend of the devil. Everything widespread panic plays except blue Indian. Everything railroad earth plays is better live as well

Any song by any band/musician worth their salt. If they are a legitimately good band they will feed off the crowd and be better live.

A musician isn't worth a damn if hes only good when he has the benefit of infinite takes and studio effects.

I would say a great portion of the Beatles songs would have been next to impossible to perform live in those times. Guess they suck.

I would be willing to bet I would enjoy those live versions more if they attempted them.

There are many songs that are just as good recorded in the studio...

Live just brings a different element into the equation... and typically, your ear is much more forgiving to the live experience...

The Pet Sounds album would be very hard to duplicate live and Brian Wilson was using the best session musicians in LA at the time...

On mobile so not even going to attempt a link...But Galactic's live albums are far superior to their studio albums

First of all: Hate me if you like. Consider this blasphemy if you like but I don't understand the hype over Pet Sounds.

I'd listen to Allman Brothers at Fillmore East on repeat for the rest of my life before I listened to Pet Sounds in its entirety one more time.
