I always loved Levon, singing or acting, and here he is on David Letterman around the time of Coal Miners Daughter.

I time stamped this beyond the interview portion to get to the music because he sat in with Paul Schaefer and the band after his number to play songs going into commerical. Someone wisely kept the tape rolling during the break so we get to hear 2+ minutes of three songs songs where Levon blows the harp. Awesome stuff!

I used to tell a buddy of mine that he was the second best drummer to ever come out of Arkansas.
Levon, of course, being the best.

Huge Levon fan. My dad loved him too. I finally saw him in 2009 when I bit the bullet and flew to Red Rocks to see him and John Prine. I got down on about the second row. Just amazing.

Ringo Starr agreed and said Levon was the best.

Amazing voice as well.

Interesting. Did he ever give a reason why?

Probably his seriously hard feelings toward Robbie Robertson

he did not
some of his band mates speculated that it could be about Robbie or it could be about how much he hated the Joan Baez version
