Fugazi - Repeater or Waiting Room

Late 80s but I would consider it 90s since it really played well then.

If you're going to do a 90s indie rock playlist, you can't go with the hit song...that's just not indie.

Yeah, Waiting Room was 88 I think. Repeater was 90.

Hum-Little Dipper...trying to avoid the other obvious choice.

Beck-Beercan

Pavement- Unseen Power of a Picket Fence with lyrics such as:

quote:

Flashback to 1983
'Chronic Town' was their first EP
Later on came 'Reckoning'
'Finster's Art', and titles to match

and later in the song:

quote:

So let's go way back to ancient times
When there were no 50 states
And on a hill there stands Sherman
Sherman and his mates

They're marching through Georgia
We're marching through Georgia
Marching through Georgia
G-G-Georgia
And there stands R.E.M

Superchunk-Slack Mutherfricker

San Clemete- The Raising.....their album "Teeth Measure the Need" is a top 10 ever for me.

New Model Army- White Light

Billy Bragg- Help Save the Youth of America

Archers of Loaf- Harnessed in the Slums

Toadies- Tyler

Modest Mouse- Doin the Cockroach

Built to Spill- Wouldn't Hurt a Fly

The Olivia Tremor Control. Two of those band members shared a big old house off of Reese St behind The Varsity in Athens with my buddy and 3 other dudes in 95. I was over there all the time when they were practicing. The whole living room was just turned into a practice studio. My buddy talked them up pretty good and I thought they were decent but not much different than any other good bands playing in Athens at the time. I left Athens in 96 and was kind of surprised when they actually turned into something rather quickly. Was so used to seeing and knowing these musicians over years who had a good local following but never went beyond that. Thought they would just be the same story.
