He really is the most impressive drummer to emerge from a commercially successful rock band since that 1970s era that saw Bonham, Moon and Peart competing for the top dog title.

Frankly, I'm a huge Tool (TWSS) fan and I listen, mostly, because of the drumming.

He’s the best overall modern day rock band drummer.

There’s a pneuma review video of a jazz drummer talking about him and his technique and he’s just blown away lol. His poly rhythm stuff is just wild how he flips from 14 different times signatures back and forth.

Thanks.

Saved me a few hundred bucks. I always look at electric/digital kits. This talked me out of it. 4 limbs utterly independent of each other.

Celtic #33 jersey with YOUR name on the back is a ballsy move.

I knew he always wore a basketball jersey when on stage but I didn’t realize he was rocking a whole uniform down to the Asics.

Some may disagree, but I'd add Stewart Copeland.

ETA: Say what you want about Dave Matthews Band, but Carter Beauford is an incredible drummer.

How do you define commercially successful? If you mean arena/festival headliner, then maybe. Not a lot of competition at that level.

Maybe the most impressive part of that is that the dude is 6 weeks shy of being 59 years old

He had a Pels Jersey on during the NOLA concert and rocked a Chiefs jersey during his solo.

I’ll have to check it out, but it shouldn’t be surprising—he studied jazz while in college at UMKC.

One of my favorite Danny Carey videos:

Danny Carey sits in with student band from Burbank Music Academy - The Pot

Favorite youtube comment from that video:

They might have been riffing on the praise the O'Keefe student drummer got on the now legendary kids' cover of 46 and 2 a couple of years back.
