John Moreland appreciation

I couldn't find a thread about his music than wasn't locked. I know I'm late to the party, so forgive me, but I just discovered him.
I saw comparisons to Chris Knight, who I also like a lot. Gritty lyrics and straightforward tunes.
So, apologies for being late, but I figure it's always ok to shout out a good artist, right?

John Moreland is great, big fan for a big dude!

he's amazing. best songwriter of the last ten years IMO.
I love Chris Knight but think John is on another level.
would love to see him get some weight off and get healthier so he'll be around for many more years.

Got to see him open for Isbell in Laffy.... raw is about as good as I could describe it. Just sits up there and sings. I dug it... especially after knocking back a few whiskey drinks prior to getting there.

Also a big fan.
Got a few of his albums on vinyl that I listen to regularly.

In the throes is one of the best records of the last 20 years

He’s incredible. 3:59 and blacklist are a couple of my favorites. Also Sad Baptist Rain and No Glory In Regret.
I can turn on “in the throes” and “high on Tulsa heat” pour a whiskey and just sit and think.
Dude is a legend.

I have tried multiple times to listen to him and don't think I'm getting it. Where am I going wrong?

fortunate to see him at the Blue Door in OKC. Great venue for an artist like him.
