No one that actually plays music thinks he sucks. Even his “room for squares” album was intricate writing. Every song on there takes a bit of time to learn and interesting chords/inversions.

This seems to be true. I saw him some years ago with a group of working musicians and they were nothing but impressed. He put on a good show.

There were folding chairs at the one we went to. It was right before he hit big. I enjoyed it. Dude is a wizard on the guitar and seemed likeable enough.
