So sad to think about what he could have accomplished. Maybe we would have even had a Beatles reunion at some point.

Maybe it was his personality and outspoken views, but John just seemed like a celebrated figure who could not possibly live longer than he did...if that makes an ounce of sense. Just can't picture him being around today.

Sure. I'd compare it to phenom athletes that you know are likely to get derailed before they reach their potential or finish a career. It just seems so rare for elite stars in entertainment or sports to max out and have long careers.
Will be in Liverpool in less than a month btw, looking forward to seeing some of the historically significant stuff.

His death was tragic but he was peaked out musically just like the rest of the fab four.

True, but at the time of his murder, he was beginning to make his big comeback after a five-year hiatus. He also appeared to be a changed man...way more mature than the drug addicted/hard partying man he was in the early 70s.
The world was about to see the return of John Lennon....and then the shots were fired.

As it happened on Monday Night Football.
And behind the scenes talk between Frank Gifford and Howard Cosell.
Yep. Was watching that game and consequently Cosell is the one who broke the news to me. 14 years old but I went to my room and cried like a baby.
