per their Instagram account. Also announced Josh will be leaving the band.
Never thought this would happen, Frusciante is easily my biggest influence in my own playing and I could not be happier right now!

Wow ! That is great news. His time in the RHCP's were definitely their high point...although I have always been a fan of the Hillel Slovak days as well !
They are known for some making some pretty bizarre videos, this early video is one of the oddest, but it's pretty awesome.

My excitement level for the next album went up X10.
I’m still pretty shocked. He sort of swore off rock and guitar for a while and was hyper focused on electronic stuff and producing rap albums for Black Knights. In the back of my head, I thought he’d eventually come back but thought it’d be later. He’s been pretty off the radar for a few years so I’ve had no clue what he’s been up to. I can only hope he really wants to do this and not because the band needed him and he felt bad or money problems (divorce). It would be a surprise if he was rejoining for any other reason than to make some great music with his best friends.
I also hope this news somehow leads to him doing a few solo shows at some point. I’m dying to see that.

They were awful without him. Suck isn't a strong enough descriptor.

John has never struck me as one that does anything except for the art involved. He seems like the kind of person that would live on the street rather then do something he doesn't want to music wise .
