Klinghoffer is a really good guitarist, buts its like trying to replace Michael Jordan.

I feel the same way. I think they tried really hard to make it work with Klinghoffer. I remember reading a story about Josh early on when he joined the band. RHCP's way of writing songs was often flea and John jamming / improvising, and Flea tried doing that with Josh and it just wasn't working. Obviously they found a way to make it work as they put out two decent albums. I actually think the I'm Beside You b-sides album is the best thing they did with Josh. But something was definitely missing. RHCP needs John for their sound. So glad he's back and I can't wait to finally see him live for the first time.
Honestly, I think it would have been cool to have them both in the band.

This is honestly kind of disappointing to me. I just can't get past Kiedis' shitastic vocals and lyrics, which sucks, because the rest of the band is fricking great. Maybe it will recharge John and he'll put out some more guitar-based solo albums.

While I am also a huge fan of Frusciante (I mean, I am a "No Frusciante, no care" guy), I don't see why Josh is leaving, necessarily. They were briefly in the band, together, and Frusciante is essentially Josh's mentor.

Awesome news. Frusciante is a huge creative force. They have a chemistry with him that is as good as any in the music industry
