Jim Croce and Gordon Lightfoot. Who else should I be re-learning?

Been listening to these two a ton on YouTube videos. If I like them, who else will I like?

Basically a guy and a guitar. Maybe some stuff that did not get killed on top40 radio back in the 70's.

I was young when Croce died (Zero) so my memory is spotty.

Especially Fogelberg. He's one of those musicians that everyone knows his songs, but don't know who sang them.

Here are some of the songs that I typically do on an open mic set when it is a bit dead:

Jim Croce - Don't Mess Around with Jim

Bruce Springsteen - Highway Patrolman
Gordon Lightfoot - Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Gordon Lightfoot - Big Steel Rail Blues

Johnny Cash - Big River
Johnny Cash - Cocaine Blues

Neil Young - Old Man

James Taylor - Country Road
Simon and Garfunkel - The Boxer

Marty Robbins - Big Iron
Marty Robbins - Devil Woman

Townes Van Zandt - Tecumseh Valley
Townes Van Zandt - Pancho and Lefty
Townes Van Zandt - Snowing on Raton
Townes Van Zandt - If I Needed You

Rolling Stones - Dead Flowers (as sung by TVZ)

John Prine - Paradise
John Prine - Angel from Montgomery
John Prine - Sam Stone
John Prine - Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore
John Prine - Grandpa Was a Carpenter

Kris Kristofferson - Best of All Possible Worlds
Kris Kristofferson - If You Don't Like Hank Williams

These are all stuff (mostly older stuff) that can be sung and played pretty coarsely...Timeless...awesome songs.

John Prine is somebody I've meant to check out but never did.

Like a book you don't get around to reading.

Also just a lyric? "There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes...."

Artist?

Song title?

I want to track that one down for that lyric alone.

ETA. I am a dumbass. It's already here.

Already back from YouTube. First comment I saw was gold. "The only thing sadder than a junkie, is john Prine singing about a junkie."

Some others...

If you're in a mellow mood, Bread.
A country mood, Tom T. Hall.

Jim Croce was the best. It's hard to believe to sheer volume of great songs he produced in a two year period once he hit his stride.

Tip of the hat too to his guitar foil, Maury Muehleisen.
