The White Man whining song is actually a great tune.

It is hard when you realize an artist you support would literally hate your guts IRL, but that's part of being a music fan.

Don't follow him on Twitter, especially if you vote Republican. He's said some pretty hateful things about that group.

Yep. While I have no problem with what he's saying in the song, I can't act like it wouldn't be a turn-off for me if one of my favorite artists started releasing music that flew in the face of my personal beliefs.

I must have missed that on Twitter though. I did see him say some pretty pointed things about the alt-right and some Republican leaders, but not Republican voters in general.

Why would he hate you? Are you an a-hole?

I follow Isbell on Twitter and Instagram, and it's just not as bad as people claim, IMO.

Even red dirt music is filled with leftists. Anyone who has been a fan of texas country or folk music knows how this goes, and Isbell isn't even close to the worst offender.

Just listened to it in full, and I didn't really find any of it obnoxious. It's not an all time album, but it's solid.

Even the SJW song isn't THAT bad. I'm honestly more offended by the cheesiness of the "fire in my daughters eyes" parts than the message of the song. It's really not that political.

I dont agree with Isbell politically, but he isnt obnoxious about it. Paterson Hood shoves it down your throat at a concert.

Album - really good. Probably on par with Something More Than Free.

Pretty nice album. I think I like it as much as Southeastern and definitely more than Something More Than Free. Vampires is classic and I agree with the Prine comparison on the opener.

Also thoroughly enjoying the redneck melting in this thread. Isbell is doing nice work all around.

I think TNS is his best yet. I love Southeastern but, to me, Yvette and Super 8 are just okay. I feel like every song on TNS is really good.
