I've been looking into getting back into it. Just don't know anybody. I can play all of the major instruments and halfass banjo and fiddle. Been thinking about just self recording since I have all the equipment

Sounds like my band’s last gig. New singer had a babymomma problem and had to pull out at the last second. Drummer couldn’t get off work. Tried to do it anyway in front of about 30 people. My amp completely shits out during the second song. Thankfully, I had the option of imputting my guitar direct into the mixer, but that meant clean only the rest of the set, and the sound guy never turned my guitar up enough for the bassist to hear it, leading to phasing issues. Then, the temperature dropped 30 degrees midset and we started shivvering while playing. Just got to play through the chaos, man, and keep going. We recovered by the end and finished strong.
Sometimes, shiite jusf goes off the rails. It’s all about keeping your composure and faking like you’re having the best time in the world. If you look like everything’s awesome and like you’re having fun, 99/100 the audience will believe you. Some of the shows I walked off thinking we’d played our worst had some of the best feedback.

Sounds like you had the issue everyone has the first time out. You can practice and have it sounding great, then you go to a venue and everything changes and the challenge is to get the sound there. It can really throw you off when it isn't working.

That's awesome y'all kept it together, because it's sounds like every thing you could be nervous about going wrong did

It’s been over 15 years since I’ve gigged regularly. Just played a few parties here and there since then. Hard to find good compatible musicians...and time. Now I just record at home and jam with friends.
Hmmm...I was playing around there during that time too.
