Mark Kozelek especially with Sun Kil Moon

Also I'm a huge Dax Riggs fan, but his content is far more depressing than Reznor IMO. 1 out of every 2 songs written by Dax is literally about death or dying.

His live act is even more depressing than his recorded songs... Only show that I have almost fallen asleep at...

The Downward Spiral is certainly one of the most disturbing things my ears have ever listened to.

I always found John Prine very depressing.

I would consider Trent's lyrics to be more about passion, anger, angst, and the frustration of emotional pain through the perception of being mistreated or misunderstood.
That isn't necessarily depressing....it can be uplifting to hear someone express those emotions in such a raw, visceral manner. It's inspiring to me.
Now Morrissey, on the other hand.........that's depressing.

I like Trent but he never really moved on from the agnsty teen phase

No. He had 1 really "depressing" album in the form of The Downward Spiral and..it's pretty self explanatory with that title.

Maybe if we're discussing how depressingly awful his music is...

Elliot Smith wins. Not to mention he committed suicide by stabbing himself.
