This song is going to remain important if solely because of the prominent use of the Mellotron, an instrument that is almost extinct, when it comes to being used on recordings.

To clarify, I am not seeking a debate on IF 'Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time' is the worst Christmas song of all time, because it obviously is.
OP has clearly never heard Bruce Springsteen "singing" Christmas tunes.

There are lots of artists still using mellotrons today: Steven Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Opeth, Sigur Ros, and John Frusciante/RHCP to name several who still use it.

Do they use the original analog model that uses tape loops to sound the note when the key is manually pressed? If so, I'm impressed that they resisted the urge to go digital and use synthesized sound.

Paul is a better performer for sure.
But Lennon was more talented. So was George Harrison.
I'm not trying to shite on Paul, but he is such a goofy hokey ahyuck ahyuck that it makes me sick.

Is it really as bad as, say, Bon Jovi's cover of "Back Door Santa"?
Really?
