Is Joe Cocker's cover of The Letter the greatest cover of all time?

Give me a ticket for an areoplane.

I don't know, but his is the definitive version of "Feelin' Alright", in my opinion.

I like The Byrds version of My Back Pages better.

A very good one for sure. Wish he'd done more stuff with Bobby Keys and Leon Russell.

Hendrix´s All Along the Watchtower is no slouch.

Pixies doing Head On is damned good too...

Heard this at a wedding reception last weekend when the groom was taking off the bride's garter, it was perfect and the groom hammed it up for the crowd.

All good answers here, I really like Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt as well.

Not even the best cover of that song

Unquestionably the best cover of that song. Cocker was one of the greatest stylists in modern music. The stuff he did with Mad Dogs & Englishmen (Leon Russel, Delaney Bramlett, etc.) was awesome. One of the better live shows I ever saw.

Best cover in the last 5 years has to be Sturgill's "The Promise"

I would like to give an honorable mention to Mettalica's version of Turn the Page.
