Iron Maiden debut hit the shelves 40 years ago today

Not that a particular reason is ever necessary, but what better reason could there be to give it a listen today?

Great album! Punk, metal, up front galloping bass lines. Prowler, Remember Tomorrow, Phantom Of The Opera, Transylvania, Charlotte The Harlot, etc; not a weak cut on the album. This record started my 40 obsession with this band. What a debut!

Phantom of the Opera is still a top 3 Maiden song for me. Thanks for posting...never get enough Maiden.

I have never grown tired of them over the years. I can't say that I have ever changed the channel when I heard Harris ripping into the bass and Bruce hitting ridiculous notes. I can't believe that it has been 40 years.

Agree 100%. I love the early rawness along with the rough and gritty style of Di’Anno’s voice. Of course they have soared to heights no one could’ve imagined back then with Bruce and it’s been his version of Maiden to become perhaps the greatest metal band of all time, but man the first two are still incredible and under appreciated.

Saw them in Indianapolis for Legacy of the Beast. They just get better every time I see them. Since they haven’t played Nola in many years, every tour I pick a city and make a trip.
